An Apple France strike is called ahead of the launch of the iPhone 15

Unions representing employees at Apple's retail establishments in France have issued a call for a strike set to occur on both Friday and Saturday, just prior to the launch of the iPhone 15. Their demands are clear: improved compensation and better working conditions.

The message from CGT Apple Retail, one of the four unions involved, was unequivocal and delivered via the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) on Wednesday. It read, "In light of the management's decision to disregard our entirely legitimate requests and concerns, the four unions representing Apple Retail France are uniting in a call for a strike on September 22nd and 23rd."

In addition to the strike, these unions have organized a worker demonstration scheduled for Friday morning at the Paris Opera Garnier, strategically located near one of Apple's flagship stores in Paris. Karine Chouchane, a member of the CGT Apple Retail union, shared insights with the French publication Liberation, stating that workers from Apple France may mobilize in approximately three-quarters of Apple's retail outlets throughout the country. As of now, Apple France has not issued a comment or response regarding the impending strike.

This latest development follows a recent setback for Apple in France when the government decided to suspend the sales of iPhone 12 models due to test results indicating violations of radiation exposure limits. In response, Apple has committed to implementing software updates for iPhone 12 devices in France to address the concerns surrounding radiation levels. Nevertheless, similar apprehensions in other European nations suggest that Apple may need to take analogous measures elsewhere.
